Florence selfie #2

Brennan is not so sure about the propriety of the David...

Florence selfies

This was the top of the bell tower of the Duomo in Florence, after climbing over 400 steps up. Nate's looking pretty chipper. We were very high up!

Scenes from Assisi

Here's Assisi from the plains. The very highest point on the left is a 12th century castle we climbed early this evening.

Countless stone spiral steps in the castle brought us to a turret,,where we got these amazing views

Ciao! (a Cathy post)

 .
Nate has taken to the Italian language with gusto. He listened to some Italian language tapes before coming, and now is fearless at interacting with every waiter, shopkeeper, person on the street. His favorite word is Grazie! (thank you) which he says with gusto to just about everyone, for any occasion.
Annie on the other hand, has taken to writing crib notes on her arm on how to say basic phrases. She looks like she's got some fancy tattoes on her left arm now.

I was so excited  when I found some poppies ("poppies! poppies!") growing by the roadside
that Brennan suggested that
I might have a drug problem. :)

Breakfast at the Assisi convent guesthouse

In Nate's words, it's "quite Continental!"

Brennan, Assisi, just here to say that this might be my most flattering picture yet.

(PS from Cathy- Some of our family and friends may not know that Bethany, Mark's niece, is joining the five Schultzes on this trip. She's a delightful addition! )
