Mark's apology to Venice
Mark here: I must publish my first official apology to Venice. (I know...that's a week ago.) I've been praising it as an amazingly unique, canal-bisected city that smells like a sewer. It no longer smells like a sewer. A few years after I visited last in 1986, the city stopped dumping their sewage directly into the canals. Now, Venice is fully a place of splendor, with no caveats.
