.. is the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. We only glimpsed the outside of it today, since we arrived too late this morning to get tickets to get inside. (But we secured them for tomorrow.)
Speaking of
which, we didn't realize how much harder it would be to get tickets to
things like Sagrada Familia or the Alhambra (in Granada) now, as
compared to Mark's and my last visit to Spain way back in 1998. Our
landlord here in Barcelona (an American ex-pat) said that the number of
tourists coming to Spain really jumped after the discount European
airlines (like Easy Jet) started up about 10 years ago. So, wandering
tourists like us have lots and lots of company, and should get tickets to some sites well ahead of time (advice we didn't always follow!)

wow. just spent a very enjoyable evening going through your wonderful trip...so glad you all got to do this. wish we lived closer, your family seems like way too much fun to hang around!!!! so glad you and Mark got back over there :) have fun!!
Wait. Mark. Chartres Cathedral? Taj Mahal? Parthenon? Rationale, please. Barcelona looks absolutely beautiful in your pictures, by the way.
Hey Randy! I'll try to make a brief reply on my next general post. Longer discussions of the world's greatest architectural treasures should be most properly conducted over a leisurely bottle of wine! :-)
Hi Jaye! I'm so glad you enjoyed the blog! Thanks for taking the time to read through it. And I wish I saw you more often!!
