You have to have a Plan B...

We had three things we wanted to do today - our last day in Paris-- climb the Eiffel Tower, have a great final Parisian meal, and climb the bell tower at Notre Dame. (we had already toured the church.)
So much for best-laid plans. When we got to the Eiffel Tour, we discovered that the workers there were on strike and we couldn't climb it. Sooooo -- Plan B- we found a Seine River boat cruise. We all got a bit sunburned, but it was nice seeing everything from the river.

But then, Annie and I missed the wonderful meal that the other four shared because we had to take the subway back to the apartment we're renting to check if her beloved sketchbook (filled with months of her sketches)  was there, or if she had (as she feared) lost it earlier that morning somewhere in Paris.
It WAS in the apartment (whew!) so we eventually joined the other four and went to Notre Dame....only to find that the line for the climb to the tower had closed at 5:00 tonight instead of 6:30, which was the time all the guidebooks had said! *sigh*
Soooo...we regrouped and went off to Montmarte, and actually had a fabulous time there. We saw the artists hawking their pictures, wandered the cobblestone streets and had a delicious desert break at a cafe.
