We didn't have internet access last night, so no updates. But here's some quick impressions about Salt Lake City. Beautiful city, surrounded by mountains on one side and a stinky lake (sorry, but the Great Salt Lake really does smell!) on the other. We did the tourist thing in Temple Square, the two-square-block center of the Mormon religion. The place has its charms, but Mark and I were put off by the persistent Mormon guides who kept approaching us. They were smiling and friendly, yes, but their friendliness bugged me because I knew it was only because they really, really hoped to convert us.
Hopefully we didn't insult any Mormons, but Brennan striking a Buddhist pose in front of the Mormon Temple was pretty funny.

I'm loving this blog as I get to live vicariously through you and learn new things about the American landscape. Love the Mormon temple stories. Would have been hilarious if you had tried to beat them at their own game and showed up smiling with catechisms and rosaries!!! Ahhh, but I do really admire their zeal.
Looking forward to more stories.
Love,
Cal
Brennan's Bhudda pose gave us quite a chuckle. Looks like Mark found more salt than he could handle!
